UFC 213 Fight Pass Prelims: Results Recap

Cody Stamann (15-1) vs. Terrion  Ware (17-6)

(Featherweight Bout – 3 Rounds)
Stamann took the fight to fellow 145er as he led with multiple low kicks then clinched to crack his man with a standing knee strike before driving for a takedown. He secured it getting the fight to the mat but, shortly thereafter Ware managed to scramble and get back to his feet. The two landed strikes back in the middle of the Octagon at the halfway mark of the opening round. Ware controlled the distance fighting at his range and started landing the cleaner, more crisp punches. But, with roughly 90 seconds left Stamann shot in getting the takedown on his man and controlling him there from top position for the final 30 seconds of Round 1. Working his superior wrestling and sneaking in some strikes along the way.
Going into Round 2 ‎both featherweight fighters opted to stand and bang. Winging away with power punches to the crowd’s delight . ‘The Flash’ Ware using his faster hands and great upper body movement as Stamann launched power punch after power punch. Stamann waived his man in taunting him to ‘come on’ and trade but as his man obliged sliding forward , Cody landed another perfectly timed takedown. This time he wasn’t able to keep Ware there for more than 15 seconds as Ware scrambled to his feet after rolling out from underneath. Ware showcased his superior striking while landing his 2-punch combinations and hooks to the body. With a little under 2 minutes left, Stamann changed levels and secured another takedown. Staying in top control and looking to land some mean strikes. Ware managed to get up and force his man along the cagewall landing a few punches of his own but with 40 seconds left Stamann got another clean takedown. He stayed in top position smothering his foe as the round came to a close.
‎Heading into Round 3 Stamann gave away the first 2 minutes simply by backing up and looking to counter punch. Ware really got his offense together cracking his man with nice low leg kicks, jabs and solid hooks.  At the halfway mark Stamann got the takedown that he was looking for when Ware marched forward very upright an confident in his boxing but neglecting his takedown defense. Stamann controlled his man on the mat for the next few minutes landing some great ground and pound along the way. Both men scrambled back to their feet in the last 10 seconds of the round and decided to stand and trade fire at close range, winging away wildly with little regard for any defense. Both of their chins holding up as they made the T-Mobile fans cheer and applaud the talented warriors as the round came to a close.
‎RESULTS:  Cody Stamann makes an impressive UFC debut defeating Terrion Ware via unanimous decision with scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.
‎Trevin Giles (10-0) vs. James Bochnovic (8-2)
(Light Heavyweight Bout – 3 Rounds)
A pair of 205ers making their UFC debutes in Bochnovic and Giles kicked off the action from inside  the beautiful ‎T-Mobile Arena for the UFC 213 event. For the first minute both men traded punches and kicks from the outside before Giles drove his man along the cage wall, changed levels and got a takedown.  The Texan kept his man there for the next two minutes landing a few standing to ground strikes before scrambling to side control on Bochnovic.  From there, he controlled his man’s back via body lock as he threw some hooks before planting him on the canvas again. The Illinois native scrambled to get up but, his Texas foe gave him a  belly to back to suplex for his troubles.  From there the Houston native landed a few more standing to ground strikes on Bochnovic as the round came to a close.
Early in Round 2 Giles landed a clean left hook on his man that slightly staggered Bochnovic. From there the two trade punches but Giles closed the distance and shot in again securing a takedown. With about 3 minutes left he got to side control then scrambled getting his man’s back.  As Bochnovic gave up his back Giles sunk in his hooks and landed some vicious ground and pound. The ‎unbeaten warrior began ripping away with left and right hooks. In one last effort to escape and try to stay in the fight Bochnovic turned unto his back however, Giles got the full mount and landed 3 unanswerd power punches. The left hooks crashed unto his foe’s face leaving him unconscious on the Octagon floor.

RESULTS: ‎Trevin Giles remains undefeated stopping James Bochnovic via KO at (2:54) of Round 2.
