Gonzalez vs. Russell Prelims Results Recap

Gonzalez_RussellRonald Gavril (11-1) vs. Elvin Ayala (28-6-1)
(Super Middleweight Bout – 8 Rounds)
Ayala fought a technically sound fight as he popped his jab or doubled his jab before circling then landing a follow up 2-punch combination on Gavril. His over hand right also found a home which then let him loosen up and throw his left hook more often. Gavril remained in his face all night looking to land but Ayala’s superior defensive prowess let him stay just outside of range slipping Gavril’s power punches via ducking and sliding out of dodge. Gavril pushed forward beginning to rally back in the 6th round where it seemed like his man had grown wary from the constant movement finding himself with his back along the wall  but alertly, Ayala tied up his foe using the clinch as a way to catch his breath. Gavril landed a few clean punches on Ayala who started to retreat with his guard very low, but adjusted the look by getting his hands back up top closing out strong in the 8th round. Ayala stuck and moved his way to a clear cut decision using that reliable jab of his before the final bell sounded.
Result: ‎Elvin Ayala hands Ronald Gavril his first loss via unanimous decision with scores of 78-74, 78-74, and 77-75.
Levan Ghvamichava (14-1-1) vs. Sergio Villanueva (27-6-2)
(Super Lightweight Bout – 6 Rounds)
Ghvaamichava out classed and out worked Villanueva for 12 minutes before Villanueva’s corner figured it was time to be smart and come back another day. Ghvamichava landed at will from the opening bell, showing off his accuracy as well as power shots by pot shoting his man over and over. The hand speed differential also favored the Georgia native as he doubled and tripled his left hook with Villanueva pulling away or getting into defensive mode for the bulk of each round.  Luckily Villanueva’s corner was smart enough to prevent any further punishment opting to not answer the bell for the 5th round.
Result: ‎Levan Ghvamichava defeats Sergio Villanueva via 4th round TKO. Villanueva did not come out for the 5th round.
Cesar Seda (26-3) vs. Cesar Juarez (16-3)
(Bantamweight Bout – 8 Rounds)
Kicking off the card from the Pearl Theatre inside the Palms Casino Resort were Seda and Juarez ‎who went toe-to-toe in an action packed battle. Both men had their moments in the match with Seda’s right hook landing flush drawing a loud reaction from the crowd. Juarez brought constant pressure from bell to bell, smothering his man which were exactly the instructions being yelled from his corner. However, his lunging punches and wide shots gave his opponent plenty of time to work out of harms way. ‎Also, Juarez’ constant approach of coming forward in a straight line enabled his foe to see the punches coming as well as load up on his own shots which he landed clean when he countered. The action really heated up going into the second half of the fight with Juarez meshing his pressure with combinations and short shots on the inside that started snapping is man’s head back from the 5th round and up. ‎In the 8th and final round, Juarez charged his man with a flurry of punches, cracking Seda with a triple right hook combination. Seda answered with a blatant low blow which got him deducted a point since he had been warned throughout the match about his shots straying downwards. The action resumed and Juarez continued his all-action pursuit of landing combinations on his foe as the round came to a close ending the fight strong and banking the last few rounds along the way.
Result: ‎Cesar Juarez defeats Cesar Seda by way of majority decision with scores of 76-74, 76-74 and 75-75.
